Outdoor Adventures
Hiking, rock climbing, skiing, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and hunting are popular activities in our neighborhood. You'll find great fishing on the Shavers Fork, which is regularly stocked by the WV Division of Natural Resources, without leaving Water Gap Retreat. The 919,000-acre Monongahela National Forest is just a short drive away, and we are close to some of West Virginia's most beloved natural wonders, including Seneca Rocks and Blackwater Falls. We are also close to several popular ski resorts.
Plan your own adventures, or ask us about guided adventure outings.

Exploring the Potomac Highlands
The Allegheny Mountains run right through the Potomac Highlands, creating dramatic views, rhododendron thickets, tumbling trout streams, and hundreds of miles of backcountry trails. Much of the region lies within vast tracts of national forest and wilderness.

Elkins, the home of Augusta Heritage Arts Center, is a college community of artists, musicians, and writers that richly deserves its high ranking in America's Best Small Art Towns. Nearby Beverly is a historic gem chock-full of Civil War history (including a mountaintop battlefield), antiques, and crafts.
At Water Gap Retreat, you are only minutes away from an award-winning restaurant, a scenic train excursion, craft and antique shops, and an active community arts center.
For more information about the Potomac Highlands, or to order your free travel guide to the area, please visit the Randolph County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
