About the Workshop Leader

Lisbet Okun has been fascinated with string since childhood, and she continually seeks new ways to tie the strings of her current life to her roots. She learned to knit in her native Denmark, to weave while living in New Mexico, and to spin, dye yarn, and quilt since moving to West Virginia 30 years ago. Each technique reflects another stage of the journey, and each new stitch helps tie it all together.

Recently, her work was featured in an invitational two-person exhibition at Davis & Elkins College and in “Wild Wonderful Fibers,” a regional traveling exhibition.

Lisbet's work can be seen throughout West Virginia: at Tamarack in Beckley; Artists at Work in Elkins; The Goff House in Beverly, WVHAG in Davis; and South Side Depot in Huntington.
